Mock interview · Kaamkaaj

40 matching jobs. How many pushes?

transcript

A firm posts 20,000 jobs in ten minutes. The interviewer says: I don't want a seeker getting 40 pushes.

Campus hiring. 20,000 jobs, bulk-posted in ten minutes. Indexing them? About 33 a second. Trivial. But one Java developer in Pune matches 40 of them.

The interviewer asks: should each match become a notification? The candidate: no. A match is an input, not a notification.

Every producer hands its matches to one router. The per-user limit lives there. So every producer obeys it. Matches collect in a 15-minute window, per user and source. Window closes. One push: 40 jobs at Vyom Tech.

Then a cap. At most one job push every 3 hours. Quiet hours from 10 at night to 8 in the morning. Everything else rolls into the next daily digest.

The interviewer tries again. What if they post at 11 at night? Nothing buzzes. The seeker wakes up to one email.

The matcher finds everything. The router decides what reaches a phone. One place for limits, and 40 matches become one push.
