Twitter/X: a post in every timeline in 5 seconds
How Twitter/X puts ~500M posts a day into followers' home timelines within 5 s and serves ~300K timeline reads a second from memory: push tweet IDs at write time for ordinary authors, pull celebrity posts at read time, cache IDs not tweets, degrade by delay in a spike, and delete with a tombstone filtered at hydration.
