Netflix: the cloud decides, the ISP delivers

How Netflix starts any title in under 2 seconds for about 10 million concurrent streams: AWS only decides what to play, appliances inside ISPs filled off-peak deliver 50 terabits a second, the player adapts quality chunk by chunk, and breakers, ranked failover URLs and request coalescing keep it degrading instead of failing.
