Server-Sent Events.
also: SSE · server sent eventsA one-way stream from server to browser over plain HTTP, with automatic reconnection built into the browser API.
the two-minute refresher
- The server keeps an HTTP response open and writes events as they happen.
- Standard HTTP, so it works through existing proxies and load balancers.
- The browser reconnects by itself and can resume from the last event id.
- One-way only: when the client must also push, use WebSockets.
